Emu Park kids off to national school swim titles

IT may be cooling off around the region at the moment but things are certainly hotting up for two young Emu Park Swim Club swimmers who have been selected to represent Queensland at the Australian School Sport Swimming Championships being held in Melbourne from July 21-26.
Emu Park Swim Club coach Paul Connolly said both swimmers delivered strong performances at the State Primary School Championships in March, securing their places on the Queensland team.
"Lucy Busby and Cameron Clark have both proven over time that being consistent and dedicated to your sport can lead to big things, with both making their first national titles," he said.
"At the meet, Lucy will be contesting the individual medley events,'' Connolly said.
It is a fantastic opportunity for his two young charges to compete at this meet for the first time.
"With no expectations, they will learn so much about top level competition which will only help them in future events.
"Both Lucy and Cam have trained well so far in this preparation, so I am quietly confident that we will see strong performances," he said.
"As long as they can stay relaxed in the build-up and remember all the little things that can give them a good swim, they should do well.
"Both show maturity in their training, matching some of our older and stronger swimmers every training session.
"So when you have young athletes like that, you can't help but get excited about their future."
On their return, Lucy and Cameron will be straight back into training in preparation for the State Short Course Championships in August.
