CENTRAL Queensland Football Club head coach Ray Wood has left the door ajar for one player to push his claims for a berth in his team for the upcoming National Premier League season.
Wood said he had to make a few tough calls when it came to the make-up of the squad - disappointing a few - but had still given those junior players a glimmer of hope.
"There were a few disappointed faces but that was to be expected," Wood said.
"I have named 19 out of the 20 man squad and have left one spot open for an under-20 player to impress me over the next few weeks and move up into the senior side."
Following the announcement of the CQFC senior squad on Tuesday night, CQFC coach Ray Wood said the side was ready to face a tough Mackay outfit in their first pre-season clash as an official team.
Wood said while the Energy had a handful of international players, the team was mostly made up of locals.
