Esk man on trial for rape of girl, 11

AN ESK man is standing trial accused of raping an 11-year-old girl after showing her pornographic videos.

The 32-year-old man, who cannot be named so as to not identify the girl, has pleaded not guilty at the Ipswich District Court to rape and indecent treatment of a child under 12 in care.

The court heard on Monday, October 22, 2012, the girl was staying at the Esk house where the man lived with a number of other adults and children.

When the other people left the house, the man is alleged to have shown the girl a number of pornographic films before taking her clothes off, pushing her onto a bed and raping her.

The court heard samples taken from the girl's clothing found traces of the man's DNA on the inside of the pants she was wearing at the time of the alleged incident.

In a police interview with the girl, she admitted to having previously falsely accused people of raping her on two separate occasions.

She told police, while she had made up the accusations previously, her present allegations were truthful.

The court heard DNA and medical evidence as well as evidence from a seized computer will be presented to the jury.
