Expensive losses at Chemist Warehouse from storm

PAUL Arnold and Chemist Warehouse made it through Cyclone Marcia unscathed, but they weren't so lucky yesterday.

The part-owner of the CBD store yesterday closed up shop after water had leaked through the roof and caused significant flooding.

"I have lost tens of thousands of dollars," he said.

"We were stocked up for Christmas trading.

"It got us this time… we were on the street watching it flow down East St and then it just started, and kept on coming."

Paul said the water was dirty as a result of the old age of the building, and offered to buy staff new shoes and clothes after the clean-up.

The store will be open today.
