Rockhampton expo can help kick-start your healthy lifestyle

ARE you a budding sportsperson or do you simply want a healthier lifestyle?

Then don't miss the CQ Health 2015 Sports and Health Expo on Sunday.

The expo will feature a range of stallholders offering information on sport, recreation, health and a host of fun activities.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council's parks and recreation committee Cherie Rutherford said the event was perfect for anyone who wanted to get active but wasn't sure where to start.

"With more than 80 sites from local sporting clubs, to gyms, health service providers and retailers, the expo has everything you need to kick-start and maintain a healthy lifestyle," Cr Rutherford said.

"The expo educates and showcases various ways residents can easily rejuvenate their lives, from eating healthy to becoming an active member of a local sporting group, or signing up to a gym.

"We want to continue to encourage people within our community, no matter what age, to take active steps towards a healthier lifestyle."

CQ Health chief executive Len Richards said the CQ Health site would be on hand to provide health information for a range of areas from cancer screening to nutrition and organ donation.

"We'll have our expert staff on hand to provide advice on a range of topics, and help you to improve your health," he said.

"With the expo being held in flu season, we're taking the opportunity to educate residents about hand hygiene and you'll be able to visit our stall and check out our glitter bugs to see how well you really wash your hands.

"We're also pleased to be partnering with KickStartCQ to offer the great prize of a sports bag to those who complete our health quiz on the day."

The free event also includes a range of new and interesting sports.
