Extra show announced for Wicked theatre performance

AN extra show has been announced for Rockhampton Regional Council's latest theatre season featuring Wicked, at the Pilbeam Theatre in April.

The extra show is scheduled for Wednesday April 12, at 7.30pm.

Chair of Rockhampton Regional Council's Community Services Committee, Cr Rose Swadling said it was great that the people of the region are getting out and supporting this local production.

"It's great to hear that due to public demand, the theatre has scheduled an extra performance,” she said.

"The season has been selling well since it went on sale late last year but the extra show doesn't mean that the other shows are sold out. "There are still good seats available for all shows. Given that there has been high demand, the extra show is to give theatregoers more choice in the lead up to the season.”

Awe inspiring and spectacular, Wicked is the untold story of the witches of Oz. It premiered in San Francisco in 2003 and has since become a worldwide hit.

Wicked is set long before Dorothy dropped in to the land of Oz, when two girls met. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, fiery and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very popular.

Wicked tells the enthralling story of two unlikely friends and how they became the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good. Directed by Wayne Scott Kermond and choreographed by Katie Kermond, (Mary Poppins and Evita), Wicked features:

Amanda Hock as Elphaba; Emma McGuire as Galinda; Matthew Dennis as The Wizard; Angelo Conway as Fiyero; Sharnee O'Donnell as Nessarose; Rachael Villiers as Madam Morrible; Travis Hock as Dr Dillamond and Joshua Langdon as Boq.

Performances will be held on Friday, April 7 at 7.30pm, Saturday April 8 at 7.30pm, Sunday, April 9 at 3pm, Wednesday, April 12 at 7.30pm (extra show), Thursday April 13, at 7.30pm and Saturday April 15 at 7.30pm.
