A COLLINGWOOD PARK woman has faced court after she allegedly unleashed a torrent of racial abuse against a Muslim human rights activist.

Jay-Leighsa Victoria Bauman appeared at Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday, charged with using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence.

The offence stemmed from an alleged online hate campaign which attacked Afghanistan refugee and Canberra-based lawyer Mariam Veiszadeh.

The 22-year-old allegedly abused Ms Veiszadeh, 30, via Facebook by calling her a "whore", a "rag head" and suggesting she return to her "sand dune country".

Ms Bauman made no plea and her case was adjourned to next Tuesday.

She remained tight-lipped and refused to answer questions from waiting media after she left the courthouse.

However on her public Facebook profile Ms Bauman wrote she was "not scared of a bit of judgment" and that there were "too many self-proclaimed 'politically correct' idiots in this world".
