THE young Rockhampton family who lived at the house where two huge street fights broke out last week are no longer living in their housing commission home.

Another resident on the street has claimed they've been evicted, and believes they've been treated unfairly and deserved to stay.

However, a spokesperson from the Department of Housing and Public Works said the tenants requested to leave of their own accord and have not been evicted from the Pfitzemaier St property.

The woman claims they were told to leave or they'd be kicked out.

She didn't want to be named for fear of retaliation, but said there were some terrible tenants living on her street who deserved to be kicked out more than that family did.

"In all the time we have been here, there has never ever been any trouble (with that family)," she said.

"These poor people, they did nothing wrong. They're evicting these people for something they did not do."

The woman said the family didn't have any control over the fact that the huge mob turned up at their house "full of drink and itching for a fight".

She was in her garage on Thursday afternoon when car-loads of people pulled up and started yelling out to the man who lived there, before the incident turned violent.

The family slept at a relative's house on East St on Friday night, and on Monday they began packing up their house.

But there are plenty of other people in Pfitzemaier St that the woman believes should be evicted.

She claimed last year another resident broke into her husband's 4WD, reversed into their garage door and damaged their second car which was parked in there.

She also claimed there are many arrests made in the area, and questioned why those people weren't kicked out of their homes for creating disturbances.

The department spokesperson said the alleged incidents in recent days were currently being investigated by the police.

"Depending on the findings, the department will take necessary action," he said.

"As per the department's anti-social behaviour policy, any complaints made against public housing tenants are thoroughly investigated in a fair and reasonable manner."
