Family plea for missing man

THE family of missing Sapphire man Noel Baines (left) have made a desperate plea to the public to help with their quest to find the father and grandfather who has been missing since February 9. One of Mr Baines' daughters, Sandra Baines, is in Mackay as the family plans to widen their search to find him, she said.

Along with other family members, she will place flyers around town to see if anyone has seen the 47-year-old, as he has friends and family in Mackay.

"I was there (Sapphire) eight days ago when he left," Ms Baines said.

"He left everything at home ... his cigarettes and mobile phone. I saw him last Saturday morning at 10.20am."

Ms Baines has been living with her father for the past few months at Rubyvale, she said.

"We started a Facebook page for him three days after he went missing, and started putting stuff up," she said.

"About half an hour after he left ... we were on foot and in our own cars ... searching ourselves. We're all deeply missing him - the kids are devastated. A couple of his old mates from around Mackay haven't heard from him."

Photos of the family's search have been documented on the Facebook page which shows where they have visited.

The family are also offering a $1000 reward for anyone who can provide information which will lead to Mr Baines himself or his blue 1994 Toyota Vienta with the registration 0404SAG.

"My sister and I are putting up the money," Ms Baines said. "His car is a V6 Vienta. Most people know those types of cars but his was slightly upgraded, there were not many of those cars made."

Anyone with information can phone Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or visit the Facebook page here.

Police issued a statement on February 12 saying Mr Baines was last seen at a Graves Hill Rd, Gemfields address.

He was wearing a grey shirt and dark blue shorts at that time. He's described as being about 182cm tall, with a slim build, brown hair and hazel eyes.
