CHRISTMAS has come early for Rockhampton shoppers, with Fantastic Furniture set to open its doors on December 12.

Not only has the store arrived just in time for Christmas shopping, but it is doing its fair share to help boost Rockhampton's economy by employing 20 full-time staff, and will stick with their national pricing.

Fantastic Furniture CEO Debra Singh told The Bulletin whether you visit the store in Rockhampton, Townsville, Sydney or Melbourne, the prices remain the same.

"When communities are doing it tough, they don't need to pay more," Ms Singh said.

Fantastic Furniture has had their eye on Rockhampton for some time, just waiting for the right site to become available.

"The size of the site is important to us so we can showcase all of our range."

Last year the company decided to open in Townsville, as they continued to seek out the perfect site in the Beef Capital.

When the furniture wholesalers spotted the vacant Sam's Warehouse site on Gladstone Rd, they knew it was meant to be.

"We are big believers that if you have the right product offer, service and availability, people will come to you. We are pleased with where the store is (located)."

Not only is getting the right site important to Ms Singh, but ensuring she has the right staff is a top priority.

20 full-time staff have been employed and will be flown to Sydney to undertake training before hitting the sales floor in Rockhampton.

Ms Singh said they will undertake formal training before spending some time working in their Sydney store to get the hang of it.

Putting skill aside, Ms Singh said she "employs for attitude".

"Customers come first, you've got to have a passion for looking after customers in this industry," she said.

"We really employ for attitude and we train for skill. It's about passion for customers, the right attitude and if you have sales experience that's always great."

The store opening in Rockhampton has been a long time coming, with Ms Singh inundated with requests from Rockhampton residents to bring the store to the region.

"We get a lot of feedback on social media about when we were going to be in Rocky," Ms Singh said.

"We knew we had to be there. We believe Rockhampton will be a great location for us."
