Fatality figures falling

GLADSTONE: AS the state’s road toll creeps significantly higher than this time last year, fatalities in the Gladstone district have fallen.

As of Sunday, Queensland’s official road toll stood at 296 – 17 higher than in 2008. There were also two fatal crashes yet to be added to the tally.

Inspector Graham Coleman said yesterday fatalities in the district during 2009 had reached three. There were four this time last year and seven in total during 2008, he said.

Decreasing statistics in the district were the result of police remaining vigilant about road safety, he said.
