Rocky family outing turns into rescue mission at Mt Jim Crow
9.30PM: A ROCKHAMPTON family's afternoon outing, on a stroll up Mt Jim Crow yesterday, turned into a dramatic rescue mission after a girl fell down a 15m vertical drop.
The girl, 8, was walking along a narrow ledge at about 6pm along Mt Jim Crow when the earth below her crumbled.
She fell down a vertical cliff but thankfully her fall was saved by a ledge about 15m below.
She was in the company of her dad, who wished not to be named in the story, her mum and her two brothers.
After the fall her dad, who said he was walking behind her before she fell, climbed down to the ledge to sit with her.
Rockhampton firefighters, ambulance officers, SES crews and RACQ paramedics rushed to the girl's aid.
She received minor injuries and grazes up the side of her body.
The girl was transported to Rockhampton Hospital in a stable condition.
7pm: Update: Emergency service crews have rescued a young child from a cliff face at Mt Jim Crow near Rockhampton.
The girl has minor injuries. Her father's condition is unknown.
6.25pm: Emergency service crews have reached a father and his young child 10 metres down a cliff face at Mt Jim Crow near Rockhampton.
Initial reports from the scene indicate the ledge, where the pair is believed to have fallen, has become unstable with another 10 metre drop below.
Details of injuries were unknown.
