EX-COUNCIL manager Ewan Filmer says he understands how local government works and that will give him an advantage as a councillor.

Ewan, a father of three young sons, has lived in Gracemere for eight years and is standing in Division 4.

"I support the orderly growth of the Gracemere Industrial Area west from its current location and minimising the infrastructure costs borne by the council to attract larger businesses," he said.

"There needs to be further engagement with property owners affected by the Temporary Local Planning Instrument and I promise to do this diligently and fairly."

He supports a high school for Gracemere and says he will strive to reduce the council's carbon footprint.

Ewan has 25 years employment in six local councils and currently works as a social science researcher at CQUniversity.

"My wife and I are very committed to improving the disability sector, particularly services for children with autism spectrum disorder," he said.
