Man kicked out of pub, found armed with star picket

WHEN Nathan Colquhoun went out to Bartletts Tavern on a Monday night, he found himself kicked out, armed with a star picket and in Rockhampton Magistrates Court.

Colquhoun pleaded guilty to one count each of failing to leave a licensed premises and public nuisance after he refused to leave the pub when asked by staff at 1.05am on September 8.

Police prosecutor Senior Constable Manon Barwick told the court Colquhoun was intercepted by police in the middle of the road armed with a wooden star picket.

Colquhoun told police he took the weapon from a nearby construction site because he feared for his safety.

Colquhoun was fined $500.
