18-year-old Rockhampton man fined for nightclub touch-ups

BIRTHDAY celebrations got out of control for one handsy 18-year-old Rockhampton man.

Steven John Anderson was kicked out of the Zodiac Nightclub about 2am on December 29 after inappropriately touching females inside the premises.

Anderson pleaded guilty in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court this week to charges of public nuisance, drunk and disorderly and obstructing police.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Darrell Dalton said Anderson was verbally abusing security guards as he was being ejected and police became involved.

Anderson used "foul language" directed at police and pushed one officer away as he attempted to walk him from the exit of the nightclub.

As another officer tried to restrain the defendant, Anderson raised his elbows and tried to strike him.

The court heard he had no previous criminal history.

Magistrate Cameron Press said the community was "sick and tired" of bad behaviour at licensed premises.

He fined Anderson $1250 and banned him from the Zodiac for six months.
