Byfield fire burning within containment lines

UPDATE 10.30AM:  FOURTEEN crews and a number of aircraft will work to keep a forest fire in the Valentine area, near Water Park Creek and Orchard Road, contained throughout today. 

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said the fire was burning safely within containment lines and crews are continuing to patrol and mop up hot-spots. 

There is no current threat to property. 

Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and monitor conditions. 

 

QUEENSLAND Fire and Emergency Services crews have contained a blaze which has been burning through the Byfield National Park since Wednesday. 

A Queensland Fire spokesperson said the fire was contained by crews overnight and it will continue to be monitored. 

"The fire is no longer out of control and is well contained," the spokesperson said. 

"Crews are water-bombing hotspots and observing from the air."
