UPDATE: aged care centre evacuated after fire in roof

UPDATE 1pm: Benevolent Living CEO Alison Moss confirmed there was a "small fire" in the roof of one of the houses.

She could not confirm what started the fire but believed it may have been caused by a solar panel.

Ms Moss said everyone was evacuated and subsequently accounted for.

"Everybody is safe - I just want to confirm that," she said.

She said two residents would have to move in to temporary accommodation due to two bedrooms being damages by sprinklers.

Ms Moss said the smooth evacuation was a result of constant fire training at the home.

Benevolent Living will be assisting fire services with an investigation to determine the cause of the blaze.

INITIAL: 10:45am A FIRE has broken out in the roof of a Rockhampton aged care centre.

QFES reported the alarm went off at 10.35am at Benevolent Living, West St, The Range.

Two crews arrived on scene five minutes later.

It was noted at 10.47am smoke was coming from the ceiling.
