Fire crews tackle CQ blazes

FOUR fire crews battled a fire which started at 1pm at Machine Creek, near Mt Larcom.

A Queensland Fire and Rescue Service (QFRS) spokesperson said the fire did not threaten any properties.

The spokesperson said three urban crews and one rural fire crew from Gladstone and Miriam Vale fought the fire.

All fire crews had left by 5.40pm, with the Mt Larcom Rural team then called to a bigger fire at Yarwun.

QFRS was called to the Yarwun fire at 3.20pm.

Five urban and six rural crews fought the fire, which is near a state forest, railway properties and a quarry tonight.

They were expected to leave at 9pm with a fire spotter to check the fire tomorrow morning.
