Firebirds coach holds coaching clinic in Rocky this weekend

ONE of the country's brightest netball minds is heading to town.

Queensland Firebirds coach Roselee Jencke is visiting Rockhampton on Sunday and is holding a free coaching clinic from 9am to 11am at Emmaus College.

The clinic is for Rockhampton Netball Association representative coaches in the Capricorn region.

A Rockhampton Netball spokesperson said it was a fantastic opportunity to talk to the Queensland Firebirds coach about coaching development in regional Queensland, and also to get an insight into how the Firebirds are shaping up for their 2015 campaign.

Jencke was appointed Firebirds head coach in 2010 and led the team to the 2011 ANZ Championship premiership.

She has also acted as selector and assistant coach to the Australian Diamonds and assistant coach to the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS).

As a player, Jencke represented Australia 43 times from 1985 to 1992. She also captained the Australian 21-years-and-under team in 1984.

Jencke will again lead the Firebirds in the ANZ Championship's 2015 season.

The Firebirds' opening game is against West Coast Fever in Brisbane on March 1.
