Firefighters battle blaze

UPDATE 5pm: FIREFIGHTERS have extinguished a large grass fire between Bouldercombe and Mount Morgan.

A Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said firefighters were able to contain the blaze, near Poison Creek Rd, by using bulldozers to create fire breaks.

She said the fire did not spread far beyond 15 acres and was put out by 3.30pm.

Two urban and three rural units were called out.

She said there was “no real threat” to homes in the area.
