1.20PM: IT is believed the incident at Ambrose could be a train derailment.

1.10PM: FIREFIGHTERS have responded to reports of the back of a train being on fire.

The firefighters have just arrived at the scene, north of Ambrose, between Gladstone and Rockhampton.

It is believed the train is a diesel haulage train.

It is also believed there is 1.5kms between the road and the train, which is stationery.

The firefighters called for rural, and then auxiliary crews as they speed along the highway towards the train, as the smoke plume was large.

Police, ambulance and representatives from Aurizon are reported also be at the scene.
