Firies watch bush fire north of Yeppoon

UPDATE, SUNDAY 9.30am: CREWS are continuing to monitor the blaze, which is situated on Australian Defence Force and National Parks land. 

A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesperson said the blaze was larger than first thought, but was being monitored. 

No properties or homes are under threat. 

EARLIER: FIRE crews are monitoring a vegetation fire burning at Mount Ganter, south-west of Byfield. 

The fire broke out at midnight and is so far posing no threat to properties. 

A smoke haze is visible in the area.

Residents are advised to shut windows and doors and if suffering from a respiratory illness, keep medications close by. Motorists should drive to conditions.

If residents feel their property is under threat, they should call Triple Zero (000) immediately.
