First world problems: 19 things you miss while travelling

IT'S not that I'm ready to come home.

Just making sure my boss understands before I continue.

But there are a few things I'm looking forward to when that day arrives.

Are they first world problems?

Of course.

I'm so used to travelling that these things don't overly bother me.

But as I get closer to my end date travelling in Latin America, the following are increasingly appealing:

  • Not carrying toilet paper everywhere
  • Putting toilet paper in the loo
  • Not wearing sunscreen every day
  • Not sweating within 5mins of walking outside
  • Not sniffing clothes to check if they can go another wear
  • Not counting knickers to see how many are left in order to determine laundry day
  • Good water pressure. Hot water. Water.
  • Not packing my bag every 2-3 days
  • Not wearing mosquito repellent almost 24 hours a day
  • Not wondering if today is the day I will die when the bus driver overtakes on a blind corner on a hill (which has happened so many times it has become increasingly statistically likely)
  • Drinking water from the tap
  • Brushing teeth and rinsing from the tap
  • Not calculating a tip in my head after every meal or service
  • Access to reliable wifi - or just wifi
  • Broccoli

I asked around my friends and they added a few more:

  • Not having coriander on every meal
  • Being able to speak mother tongue again
  • Having more books to choose from
  • Wanting to go somewhere and jumping in the car to do so
