Five fire crews fight Yarwun blaze

BREAKING 3.45pm: FIVE Fire and Rescue crews are currently on scene at a grass fire burning in the vicinity of Mt Stowe Road, Calliope River Road and Boyles Road, Yarwun.

The fire broke out around 3pm yesterday and is currently burning in inaccessible terrain.

It is moving in a westerly direction and does not pose any immediate threat to properties.

Residents should remain vigilant and monitor conditions.

Residents are advised this fire is creating a large smoke hazard in the area and they should keep their doors and windows shut.

People who suffer from, or are susceptible to, respiratory illness should also keep their medication close by.

Motorists travelling in the area particularly are urged to drive to conditions due to smoke haze and fire crews operating in the area.

If residents are concerned their property is under threat they should contact triple zero (000) immediately.
