Flood enquiry 'vindicates' miners

THE Queensland Resources Council has welcomed the Queensland Floods Commission of Inquiry's recommendations relating to the mining industry.

Chief Executive Michael Roche noted the final report vindicated concerns raised by the QRC in the lead up to and during the flood events of the 2010-11 wet season.

"I note that the Commission supports the QRC's submission that the Fitzroy model conditions imposed in late 2009 to regulate mine water discharges prevented the industry from being able to properly prepare for the 2010-11 wet season, and that authorities acted too late on those concerns," he said.
