Flood levels peak in CQ river


 

8.53am: Major flood levels have peaked at about 10.3 metres overnight along the Comet River at Comet Weir. The Australian Government Bureau of Meteorology said fl ood levels on the Nogoa River at Emerald were expected to remain well below minor. Fast rises were being recorded along the Mackenzie River in the Yakcam area, with moderate flooding likely. NOGOA RIVER Rises continue in the upper Nogoa at Raymond and Craigmore. Minor flooding continues to ease during Tuesday in Van Dyke Creek. Minor flood levels continue to rise at Craigmore with higher levels and moderate flooding expected. River levels at Emerald are predicted to remain well below the minor flood level of 14 metres. COMET RIVER Moderate flooding continues to rise at Rolleston. River levels are falling at Springsure Creek Junction. Major flood levels at Comet Weir recorded a peak during Monday evening of about 10.3 metres. River levels will continue easing during Wednesday before rising again later in the week; levels are not expected to reach as high as the initial peak. THERESA CREEK CATCHMENT Renewed rises were recorded along Retreat Creek at Sapphire overnight with levels remaining well below the minor flood level. River levels continue to rise at Gregory Highway with minor flood levels possible during Tuesday. MACKENZIE RIVER TO BINGEGANG Minor to moderate flood levels are expected along the Mackenzie River to Bingegang this week. Fast rises are occurring at Yakcam, with levels likely to reach near the moderate flood level during Tuesday. Further predictions will be made as upstream peaks are observed. DAWSON RIVER River levels continue to ease at Taroom, with levels downstream to Moura forecast to remain below the minor flood level. Rises at Bindaree on the lower Dawson River is expected to be causing some minor flooding downstream in the Baralaba area.
