Flood survivor pleads guilty to fraud charges

A GRANTHAM man, who lost most of his family in the 2011 floods, has pleaded guilty to fraud charges.

Daniel "Danny" David McGuire, also known as Gary Jibson, appeared in the Ipswich District Court last week where he faced charges of fraud and two counts of unlawful use of a motor vehicle with intent to permanently deprive.

All of the charges predate the 2011 flood event and were originally laid in 2010 by the Gatton Criminal Investigation Branch.

McGuire entered a plea of guilty to all three charges.

The matter was adjourned until April 21 to allow the defence to present submissions to the court.

McGuire and his seven-year-old son Zach survived when their home was destroyed by flood waters which took the lives of his 31-year-old wife and two other children, aged 12 and five.
