Fluoride sees politicians nominated for Bent Spoon Award
COUNCILLOR Glenda Mather has been nominated for the not so sought after Bent Spoon Award bestowed by the Australian Skeptics group.
She was nominated for her anti-fluoride arguments.
The annual award recognizes Australians who perpetrate "the most preposterous piece of paranormal or pseudo-scientific piffle".
Fiona Dodson nominated Cr Mather for "for successfully getting fluoride removed from the local water supply, stating that 'fluoride causes fluorosis and dementia'".
Do you think it was right to nominate Glenda Mather for the Bent Spoon Award?
This poll ended on 31 May 2013.
This is not a scientific poll. The results reflect only the opinions of those who chose to participate.
But Cr Mather today stood by her views.
She says Ms Dodson had not done her research on fluoride.
Another fluoride opponent has been nominated for the Bent Spoon Awards, Nudgee MP Jason Woodforth, for saying water fluoridation was worse than illegal peptides and hormones.
The Morning Bulletin is waiting for Ms Dodson to return its messages.
