Flying fox sparks power outages in Barmoya Tuesday night

A FLYING fox brought down three sections of a power line on Dry Weather Rd in Barmoya late Tuesday evening.

About 1400 Ergon Energy customers had their power disrupted about 11.20pm.

But Ergon crews had most power back online within the hour.

Ergon Energy's corporate communications manager Bob Pleash said wildlife often affected power during dry spells.

The wildlife interrupt supply by landing on power lines as they migrate in search of rain and water when there is dry weather, he said.
