‘Forest Flame’ photo trail blazes Madelyn’s career
CAPTURING the memories of Central Queenslanders from behind her lens, Madelyn Holmes celebrates five years in the photography business with a touring exhibition.
The Diploma of Photography graduate who runs her own business was selected as a finalist for the CQU Creates Exhibition and she couldn't be more thrilled.
Madelyn said for over the past month her photo 'Forest Flame' had been on the CQU Creates Exhibition tour which travelled around the region.
"It's wonderful to be recognised for my work,"Madelyn said.
Madelyn's said her photo titled 'Forest Flame' was inspired by recent bushfires around her family's property just outside of Rockhampton.
"Forest Flame confronts the power and devastation of these fires, featuring a red-headed girl amongst the ashes to represent the fire itself."
While the keen photographer admitted taking a pristine white dress into the ash may not have been the best idea, she said it was well worth the outcome.
"It was certainly worth it to capture the contrast of the dress with the barren landscape," she said.
The local photographer said she loved doing photoshoots as she couldn't wait to help Central Queenslanders preserve their milestones for years to come.
"After your wedding day is over and your children grow up all you have left are your photos and the memories, so it's a priceless investment," she said.
"I love connecting with people through photography - to have families welcome you into their lives so openly is such a special feeling."
Madelyn's piece 'Forest Flame' is eligible for the people's choice award.
You can vote for Madelyn by visiting the CQUniversity website before voting closes on November 29.
