Former CQ judge dies on bike ride

FORMER Central Queensland judge, Justice Peter Dutney died on Friday while on a group bike riding trip through South Australia.

The Morning Bulletin understands he suffered a heart attack.

Justice Dutney began his ride in Alice Springs, but died at Coober Pedy, South Australia.

Justice Dutney served as a Supreme Court judge in Rockhampton for eight years before transferring to Brisbane in November 2007.

It’s believed his funeral will be held in Brisbane next week, following an autopsy in Adelaide today.

Justice Dutney’s wife is former Rockhampton magistrate Bronwyn Springer.

It's believed the Attorney General's office will release a formal statement later today.
