Former Emerald man charged over stock thefts

A FORMER Emerald man has been arrested and charged with 14 stock-related offences. 

Detective Sergeant Glenn Powell, Officer in Charge of Rockhampton Stock and Rural Crime Squad told The Morning Bulletin officers identified the suspect cattle during routine checks at the Emerald Saleyards on February 18. 

He said the cattle belonged to six different complainants. 

Following their investigation, a 44-year-old former Emerald man was charged with 14 offences, including six counts of stock stealing, one count of suspicion of stock stealing, one count of illegal branding and five other stock-related offences. 

the man is scheduled to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on July 8. 

The cattle will be held by the Rockhampton Stock and Rural Crime Squad until the matter is resolved in court.
