Four drivers caught going more than 40kmh over speed limit

Police will today continue their Easter Road Safety Campaign, after handing out 145 infringement notices on Saturday.

Although Rockhampton Road Policing Unit Senior Sergeant Ewan Findlater said most were doing the right thing, it was disappointing some people were still making the decision to drive dangerously.

He said 82 speeding tickets were handed out on Saturday, one for a driver caught doing 180kmh in a 100kmh zone on the Leichhardt Hwy near Theodore.

There were three other drivers caught doing more than 40kmh over the speed limit.

Police are reminding all people to drive to the conditions given the recent wet weather.

The Easter Road Safety Campaign  runs until the end of the long weekend.
