Four Paws fans celebrate work with dog walk next weekend
WHEN Cr Jan Kelly met Bella, she was on death row.
But Jan knew she was too good a dog to be put down and so adopted her through Capricorn Coast organisation Four Paws Adoption and Education Inc.
Six weeks later, the happy and healthy pup is loving her new home.
"She's a good little dog, she's a sweetie," Jan said.
"She's a chewer and digger, we still have our little arguments, but we're hoping this is just a phase.
"Four Paws are doing a great job and Livingstone Shire Council is working with them in the area as much as we can to foster animals that are picked up by the pound, if all avenues of finding their owner have failed."
The Livingstone Shire councillor is one of many kind residents taking in homeless animals and on May 24, Four Paws will celebrate its work with a fundraising community dog walk.
Their aim is to encourage everyone to come along and join the walk to raise money and awareness for the group's foster animals.
Even if you don't have a dog, and just love animals, you can still join the walk and raise vital funds.
The Four Paws and Tails Community Dog Walk will also include a sausage sizzle barbecue, a pop-up Pet Photo Booth by Pawtraits of Purrfection, doggie wash by Maggie's Mobile Dog Wash, and face-painting for kids.
Money raised will help fund their critical work in the community, which includes short-term direct care to animals as well as rehabilitating animals.
