Woman was four times over the legal limit

THE message about drink driving just doesn't seem to be getting through, Magistrate Barbara Tynan has told a driver who was caught with more than four times the legal level of alcohol in her system.

The court heard how Karla Joy Jenkinson had crashed into traffic islands on Dawson Highway near Jim Whyte Way on May 13.

She drove off in the car and was seen driving erratically as she headed towards Gladstone. Her orange car was found later that night in Barney Point and Jenkinson was found nearby, in a carport. Her breath alcohol level was 0.210.

Defence lawyer Brad Krebs told Magistrate Barbara Tynan that she had admitted it was a poor decision, and regretted her actions.

Ms Tynan told Jenkinson driving with four times the limit of alcohol and at night was a serious situation.

"You have brought the consequences ion yourself," she said.

Jenkinson was fined $1400 and she was disqualified from driving for 14 months.

A conviction was recorded.
