Franz living the dream as comic book character
FRANZ Drameh is living his boyhood dream.
The 24-year-old actor, who plays Jax 'Firestorm' Jackson in Legends of Tomorrow, grew up reading comic books and is honoured to now be part of the DC Universe.
"This is literally so much fun. My inner child is just going crazy..." Drameh said.
"Every day I get to work and have a blast."
Drameh, from South London, has loved comics since he was a child.
"My dad's a big comic book fan and he was always reading comic books and he has a huge collection, so as a kid I'd just kind of pick up a random comic here or there and grew to have favourites," Drameh said.
"Batman is my all-time favourite. To be fair, I actually have a DC favourite and my Marvel favourite is Wolverine."
Drameh's love for comic books and superheroes continues and he said the key messages behind their stories were important to take note of, no matter what age.
"I think the whole idea of superheroes is the whole good versus evil and the idea of hope," he said.
"I think now in a time where a lot of things are happening in the world that kind of take away from that idea of hope - there are a lot of bad things at present - I think it's important to have that kind of escapism and light-hearted fun and bring that back."
The young actor is headed to Australia for the first time and will appear at the Supanova Pop Culture Expo in Brisbane this weekend (November 10-12).
Drameh said he was keen to hit the beaches when he got a chance Down Under, and was looking forward to meeting fans.
"It's so cool because at the end of the day that's who we make these shows for, for these fans, for everyone to watch so it's really lovely to see how much people enjoy it and how much it means to some people," he said.
"It's the highlight of the trip. It's why I go."
MEET FRANZ DRAMEH: Franz will take part in signing and photo sessions on Friday from 2-5.30pm, and on Saturday and Sunday from 10.30am-5.30pm.
