Free quick-call cab service takes off

GETTING a taxi on the Capricorn Coast has become so much quicker with the introduction of a priority button that connects businesses directly with Yellow taxis with no waiting.

The newest business to install the initiative is Pie Alley Blues in Yeppoon and co-owner Cath Stubenraunch said it was working a treat.

Cath said patrons needed only to let staff know they would like a taxi and they could push a button and be given priority with no call waiting and no queue.

"The new direct link to taxis requires no phone call. We simply press the button and taxis are alerted immediately that we have a customer requiring a cab,” Cath said.

"The safety and wellbeing of our customers is very important to us, knowing that all customers need to do is let staff know and a taxi will arrive at the front of the business.

"Staff are not held up on phones and customers can wait at our business in comfort and safety until their taxi arrives.

"This is a fabulous initiative that is quicker than phoning a taxi and it ensures our customers don't have to leave the premises to find safe travel home.”

Yellow Cab Co manager Ron Ware said the initiative was introduced to the Capricorn Coast 12 months ago and had proved very popular for business owners and their clients.

"The service drops about five to six minutes off the waiting time because the alert goes directly to drivers, bypassing the operator altogether,” Mr Ware said.

"It is a free service to both businesses and customers that started in Brisbane and we adopted it very quickly.

"The priority system means no waiting on the phone, no lining up at taxi ranks and a more efficient service for our customers.”

Mr Ware said there were currently about 12 of the devices on the Capricorn Coast but he was hoping to increase that number dramatically.

Any businesses or venues interested in having the free-to-business customer priority service installed can phone Mr Ware at Yellow Taxi Co 4924 9537 and ask for Ron.
