French national fronted court charged with unlawful wounding

UPDATE:

A FRENCH national has fronted court charged with unlawful wounding over the stabbing of a security guard outside an Airlie Beach nightclub.

Bruno Robert Marcel Bastard, 30, made a brief appearance in Proserpine Magistrates Court yesterday in relation to the incident outside Magnums about 2am Sunday.

He was accompanied by a woman, Soizic Marine Gaellic Deneboude, 26, who is charged with common assault and drunken disorderly.

There was no application for bail, with the pair to reappear in Mackay Magistrates Court tomorrow. They were in tears and kissed each other before being led away.

 

EARLIER:

A 30-YEAR-OLD French National is currently in custody in the Whitsundays due to stabbing a security guard.

A Mackay police spokesman said the incident occurred at 2 this morning outside Magnums nightclub.

"The man stabbed the security guard several times in the upper body and face," he said.

"The security guard is in a stable condition and has non-life threatening injuries.

"The man is in custody and currently hasn't been charged."

Police investigations are continuing.
