Frenchville finish as Rugby 10s champions
FRENCHVILLE Pioneers' winger Beau MacDonald was a man on a mission in the Rugby 10s grand final, helping his side to a 19-12 win over University.
The 23-year-old's speed and footwork created havoc for University as he carried his 2015 leading try-scoring form into the three-week pre-season competition.
The teams went to and fro all game with Frenchville edging it in a close contest.
MacDonald, in his first 10s competition said the faster pace of the rare concept suited him to a tee.
"It's my first comp and it's unbelievable, it's such a fast game which I like," he said.
"They usually have it over one or two days but with it stretched out over a few weeks means the rep boys can still play and everyone is happy.
"It was good fun and always good to come home with a win.
"I think I racked up five or six tries today, not sure how many I would have got all pre-season."
Round one of the regular season kicks off this weekend and Frenchville are targeting another undefeated run.
