VIDEO: Fresh food is key to Cotton Mill Cafe's success

FRESH food and quality service are the fundamentals to a good coffee shop, according to Cotton Mill Cafe owner Gary Warburton.

Cotton Mill Cafe was voted Gladstone's favourite cafe/restaurant on The Observer's Facebook page.

Mr Warburton said the recognition made his job worthwhile.

The Cotton Mill Cafe opened in Gladstone seven years ago.

Mr Warburton said some of their best sellers was their coffee and homemade chicken curry and lasagne.

"We don't buy anything in. Everything is fresh, home made.

"We like to give value for money and make sure the products we sell are at a good quality," he said.

Mr Warburton said they had many regular customers, but a revamped CBD would help their business.

"In the CBD there's not much foot traffic so we do rely on our regular customers from the banks and other shops in the CBD.

"Our coffee is quite popular. It's quite a big part of our business," Mr Warburton said.

Right from the start they have had a focus on delivering good quality fresh food, he said.

"We're just going to continue delivering what we're good at.

"This type of recognition certainly helps, at the end of the day I'm here to make a profit but to have a good name in Gladstone.

"That's a real pat on the back because we know we're doing our job right," he said.
