Alleged hit and run: Friend mourns generous man

TIMOTHY Hardwick was a doting father, caring partner and a kind friend who would rip the shirt off his back to help someone in need.

That's how friend Ben Adamson says he will remember the 38-year-old man who was killed in an alleged hit and run incident on Thursday.

Mr Adamson said he only knew 'Tim' for three months before his untimely death but that was more than enough time to get a sense of the generous, fun-loving nature that made him such a popular resident at Riverdale Caravan Park.

"He was the happiest man I've ever met," Mr Adamson said.

"That's just the person he was - a kind-hearted soul.

"I knew him for three months but I felt like I've known him my whole life."

For a couple of months, Mr Adamson lived at the Riverdale Caravan Park where Mr Hardwick resided with his partner and two children.

"I was going through some personal issues and Tim and his wife opened their door to me," Mr Adamson said.

"He was a character and a lot of fun to be around."

Mr Adamson said Tim and his family were on the first leg of an adventure which would have seen them travel across Australia - a trip now tragically cut short.

"They had just got a caravan and were planning on travelling again after Christmas," he said.

Mr Adamson said he would remember Tim as a simple, private, family man who would do anything for his two children.

"Two children have lost the best father," he said.

"His kids absolutely idolised him and he loved them."
