Fuel efficiency experts on a mission in Rockhampton today

HELEN and John Taylor are clocking up the kilometres as they head around Australia teaching us how to save money and the environment.

The couple are the world's leading fuel efficiency experts and have been running fuel efficiency programs across the globe for 35 years.

Helen and John are making their way past Rockhampton today and shared a few tips on how to be fuel efficient.

"When you're driving always check your tyre pressure, for one-Psi your tyre is uninflated, you can lose up to 3% fuel efficiency," Helen said.

"Know where you're going too, so you don't drive around in circles."

Helen knows what she's talking, after joining an economic fuel drive as a teenager.

"I started years ago when I saved up for a car and realised it costs money to move it and I couldn't afford to drive it," Helen said.

"I was 18-years-old in the 1970s, and I don't think time has changed too much; young people these days have the same problem.

"I thought I must have some control over this and developed a few driving techniques and found they could get me further."

She's now travelled the world teaching others how to save fuel and be environmentally conscious.'

The couple are making their way to Hobart, after starting in Melbourne and will have clocked up 19,000km by the end of their drive. For more information head to fuelacademy.com.
