Fun on wheels for charity
ALEX Thomson and her family lost their beloved cousin and nephew Luke Farr to leukaemia 12 years ago.
Ever since Luke passed away just after his fifth birthday, a huge part of their lives has been dedicated to supporting children and families battling the disease.
On Sunday, Alex and her mum Jeni will have some serious fun on wheels and cruise around the region to raise money for children and their families living with cancer.
Jeni, who is the publicity officer for Camp Quality (CQ), said their whole family supported the charity in some way or another.
“It gives kids and their brothers and sisters a chance to enjoy life,” Jeni said.
The Fun on Wheels Charity Motor Cruise starts at the PCYC in Rockhampton at 8am.
The first stop will be at Cawarral for some fun therapy, then to Yeppoon for more fun and morning tea and finally through to The Reef Palms at Zilzie for a family fun day with markets, food, kids rides and live entertainment.
You can drive your car, ride your motorbike, truck it there or even pushbike it.
With the funds raised, Camp Quality is able to provide recreational programs such as camps and financial and education assistance.
Jeni is urging the public to come to a free sausage sizzle tomorrow at the Camp Quality office at 132 William St in Rockhampton for Fun on Wheels registrations, or you can register on the day.
