Get your business on Thrifty's map

THE Sunshine Coast is one of 11 locations earmarked in an initial national rollout of a new partnership that will eventually see maps, apps and voucher books handed out to everyone who rents a car through the Thrifty company.

Welcome Maps has partnered with Thrifty Car Rental to develop destination-specific maps and voucher booklets that will advertise a variety of attractions, activities, restaurants and accommodation in each area. Our Coast joins the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Cairns, Darwin, Perth, Adelaide, Tasmania and Canberra.

Welcome Maps CEO Matthew Simons said it was a fantastic opportunity for tourism operators to promote themselves.

"The Sunshine Coast is one of the largest areas for Thrifty - they have 230-plus cars going out of the Sunshine Coast Airport every week," he said.

"The maps are put on the front seat, and the voucher books are handed over with the car keys.

"We have also engaged Mark and Loretta from the Sunshine Coast brochure display company to put it through more than 500 hotels on the Coast.

"So if you want your business given to a tourist arriving on the Coast, this is the way to do it."

Mr Simons said he was now keen to hear from local businesses wanting to be included. The package includes an appearance in the book, map, the 24-language website and app.

Voucher offers could be anything from a percentage discount, free coffee, adults at kids' prices or buy one, get one free.

Welcome Maps has been supplying Jetstar with maps on its international flights into Sydney, Melbourne, Cairns and the Gold Coast.
