Get the purrrfect companion this World Cat Day via adoption

GET the purrfect companion on World Cat Day and raise funds for charity.

To celebrate World Cat Day on Saturday, August 8, Petbarn Rockhampton in partnership with RSPCA Queensland is offering cat adoptions in-store where locals will have the opportunity to meet a number of cute and cuddly felines that are looking for new homes.

Local store manager, Jeffery Hickson, says World Cat Day is a fantastic way to celebrate the love and companionship that our furry friends provide us and is the perfect opportunity to raise awareness of the number of cats that are without a home.

"At Petbarn Rockhampton we're dedicated to ensuring every animal has a loving place to call home and World Cat Day is the perfect to time for us to raise awareness of the importance of pet adoption in saving cat lives," said Jeffery.

"Renowned for their companionship, playful nature and self-sufficiency, cats are one of Australia's most popular pets and can make a great addition to the family. Easy to care for and able to be left alone in the house by themselves for several hours, cats can teach compassion while being a very independent member of the family," said Jeffery.

The Petbarn Rockhampton store offers cat adoptions all year around through its Pet Adoption Centre, however, is taking World Cat Day as a special opportunity to celebrate cats.

If Rockhampton locals do find a new furry companion they will be able to go through the pet adoption process in-store on the day. Most importantly, while the adoption fee set by the local charity is collected by Petbarn, 100% of this fee is returned to the charity. All cats are de-sexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped before being brought into store.

Since the adoption program launched, Petbarn stores across the country have saved the lives of over 11,200 animals through the Petbarn Adoption Centres and over the next year aims to save hundreds of animals nationally.

In celebration of the World Cat Day, Petbarn have created nine unique cat personalities, which they will be sharing on social media, so keep a look out!
