Getaway car crashes into prime mover

9.25am: POLICE are guarding a man in Gladstone Hospital after a dramatic chase through the streets of Gladstone last night.

Two men were spotted smashing their way into a business at about 11.30pm and when police arrived the men ran from the business and into a stolen high-powered Nissan Skyline.

The getaway car crashed minutes later into the back of a prime mover and the raiders ran off on foot.

Officers discovered one man in agony on the roof of a nearby business and took him to hospital where he is being treated for a broken arm and fractured ribs sustained in the accident.

The 38-year-old has been charged with a number of offences and is expected to appear in court as soon as he is well enough to be moved.

Police are continuing to search for the other raider, who is believed to have driven the car.
