Getting paid to party
EIGHT years ago Rockhampton's Joanne Fletcher laughed at the thought of making a living from partying at home.
But today the former nurse is the director of one of the most successful businesses in Australia - The Body Shop At Home.
“I never thought I would say this, but I get paid to party,” Joanne said.
Joanne and her team of about 200 became a part of what is known as the Million Dollar Club after turning over more than $2 million in Body Shop sales over the last financial year.
The Body Shop At Home is the highly successful direct selling arm of The Body Shop which offers beauty and skin care products and services, while educating customers about social issues at the same time.
Joanne said the million-dollar milestone was a personal reward for the eight years of hard work, effort and commitment, but more about her team's effort as a whole.
“Seeing the team achieve this empowers me,” Joanne said.
“The average party at home is about $650 but we have worked closely to achieve more than this,” she said.
In her role Joanne mentors woman and men in the business from all over Queensland including Rockhampton, Mt Isa, Emerald, Mackay, Gladstone and Bundaberg, along with one Sydney consultant.
The mother of four said eight years ago, when she was on maternity leave, her husband told her to give it a go.
“I loved The Body Shop product, but laughed about getting up in front of people at first.”
Joanne said for a two-hour party, she would earn the same amount of money she did for an eight-hour day of nursing.
“I am travelling the world with The Body Shop At Home at the same time,” she said.
