A GOLD Coast home has been extensively damaged by fire and a Toowoomba man charged overnight.

About 9.15pm a fire engulfed The Panorama, at Tallai, home. No one was in the property at the time.

Police located a man near the scene who had allegedly stolen property from the house in his possession.

A 22-year-old man from Toowoomba has been charged with enter premises to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court this morning.

Investigations are continuing.
