Gold prospector airlifted to hospital
A GOLD prospector living west of Rockhampton had to be airlifted to hospital this morning when he suffered a blocked airway.
The 78-year-old man presented at Clermont Hospital around 6am suffering from severe respiratory distress.
The man had been ill for five weeks and his airway was so chronically blocked that the RACQ CQ Rescue Helicopter was forced to do an emergency transport.
The Mackay-based chopper arrived in Clermont just before 1pm and left an hour later.
The patient arrived at Mackay Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
