Local musicians to strike a tune at OMFest on Saturday

OMFEST isn't a meditation retreat, although music lovers would agree the event definitely has a relaxed vibe.

OMFest actually stands for Original Music Festival - a one-day annual event featuring the best and brightest singer- songwriters of the Capricorn region.

Held at Waru community garden (Tanby Rd, Yeppoon) on Saturday, October 31, crowds will enjoy music from two stages, one for bands and the other for soloists and duos.

It's safe to say the music will not stop.

The festival is a showcase for first-timers, such as all-girl group Kneecap, up-and-comers like Dialogical Rogues and old hands like the Medicinal Porpoises and The Clan.

The line-up also includes Chasing the Jeffrey, one of the hit bands from the recent Village Festival.

The talent ranges in age from 16 to 60 and music styles encompass folk to heavy rock and everything in between, including the jazz fusion of INDABA and the world music of Braxton Hicks.

But it's not just about the music - craft stalls, workshops, food and a bar will also be on offer.

Everything you love about festivals is packed into one glorious day and night.

And don't forget it's Halloween, so dress up and add to the magical vibe of this unique event.

OMFest is a truly independent grassroots event helped by sponsors including JAG Music and Sound, Keppel Coast Arts, Keppel Greens and Gourmet Catering, along with volunteers too numerous to name.
